Hi! Welcome to Blackbirds Micro Bakery. We are a family-run micro bakery led by Nzinga and Zak. We run our small bakery from our registered home kitchen in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.
We are passionate about making real honest bread and cakes using high quality, local and ethical ingredients. We bake to order for collection and local delivery on Saturdays each week in Handsworth Wood and Sutton Coldfield. We make real sourdough bread, cakes, brownies and cookies using Organic flour from two local mills in the Cotswolds - Shipton Mill and Matthews Cotswold Flour.
Our menu changes each month. This consists of our classic Blackbirds Sour loaf, made with organic flour, water, sea salt and plenty of time, as well as a monthly bread special, an enriched sourdough sweet bread and a selection of brownies and biscuits. All our bakes are made to order, purchased through our webshop on the Open Food Network. Orders close on Thursdays at 8pm. All orders are packaged in Eco Friendly packaging.
We do not use artificial additives, preservatives or dough improvers in our breads or cakes. We're members of the Bread Angels Network of Micro Bakers, are proud to support The Real Bread Campaign and have the Loaf Mark and Sourdough Loaf Mark.
Our business is fully registered and insured. We have both undertaken Food Safety and Hygiene Training, Allergy Awareness Training and Prevention of Covid-19 Training. Our Covid-19 Risk Assessment is available via email. Our products are not suitable for allergy sufferers as our kitchen handles all 14 main allergens and it cannot be guaranteed that traces are not present.
